I ripped a movie when it first came out after buying it for a personal back up...And I split it into 5 pieces...recently I got tired of watching it on my computer, and watching each 15 minute piece...so I opened AVONE Video Converter and selected AVI (Xvid Codec)...I checked merge, and pushed convert...after it was done it was "1.35GB" 1 piece! But when I right click on the file and seleted properties it says the play time under audio is 4 hours and 5 minutes...So I just ignored that and opened DVD Santa, and popped in a 4.7GB disc, set the settings like usuall, and pushed start...DVD santa closes every time...does anyone no why? I am attaching a pic of the properties on a right click....any help would be greatfull...thanks...

Not being a smarta__, but if you have the orig., why not start over. Otherwise, post the specs on the video pieces you have, not the combined, as there's something obviously wrong with that. ANd of course read through the guides and posts here -- the answer to your problem has probably already been posted.

Yes. Bypass this avenue completely and back up the original DVD ... unless that is not possible by way of damage to the disc, or <insert other reason here>, of course.

    Much easier
    If in doubt, Google it.

As you've encoded each AVI yourself, you surely did so using the same settings for all. Load first in VirtualDub, then add the rest with Append video segment, save direct stream for both A+V.
Then create a DVD from this AVI - many options here, but divx2dvd seems like pretty good for a oneclick app. Even better - I think you can add multiple AVIs to divx2dvd - no need to even join the AVIs first, if they aren't several parts of the same title.
