hi guys, i just bought a dvd writer and i want to write around four movies onto 1 dvd but im not able to write since the disk space req is more than 6gb. i used dvd shrink and copied 4 movies onto my hard disk but when i write it onto the blank dvd it says no disc space. can anyone tell me how to write multiple movies onto 2 disc. it talks about some dvd9. moreover, i also remove all unwanted stuffs but still it takes more space.
this is the prob...
i copy all 4 main movies onto my hard disc using dvd shrink.
secondly, i use nero 6 to burn the disc (6gb) but it gives me an error saying no dsic space....wat to do... i have the movies on my hard disc waiting to b written. wat to do. moreover i have episodes of the x fiels around 25 episodes but not able to write it onto dsc even though im using tmg author...please advice.

a typical size you can put on a SL dvd is 4.31GB so your total size should not exceed this number. If you buy Good dvd media on sale works out cheaper and save you a lot of time to squeeze more into one dvd and besides quality will degrade a lot if you put that much. going with that much you have to convert to divx to have a decent quality.

hi...but many of my friends buy dvd from shops where they have four to five movies onto one dvd and the quality is also good. ok, lets forget four movies, i at aleast want to put three movies onto one dvd but not able to . moreover, i dont add menus or any thing else. i just use dvd shrink, select the main mivoe without menus or ads etc and rip it compressed. imagine i rip three movies which results in 5gb, how do i put it into 1 4gb disc, tell me. im trying for weeks until i came upon this site, so plz help. the sys sya u req dvd9 for this, is this dvd avalable in market if not how do u create one.
i asked many shops ofr a blank dvd9 but they dont have. so wt to do tell me. -
You can buy DVD9s, they are called dual layer and they are still substantially more expensive than single-layer discs.
Start simple - rip each movie using DVD Shrink, movie only, and put the results on your HDD in a folder (this is an option when you backup a dvd in shrink). You now have three DVDs ripped to the HDD, movie only.
Go into Shrink and open the first movie. Go into ReAuthor mode and drag the movie across to the left. Open the next DVD folder and repeat. Again for the last. You should now have three movies listed in the lefthand side. Hit backup, pick a destination (folder, ISO, burn etc) and click OK.
3 movies will not fit on a single layer disk without substantial compression, so expect Shrink to have to shrink them by around 30 - 40% each.
If you must put three on a disk, I would set the compression in Shrink to No Compression, write the new structure out to your HDD, then use DVD Rebuilder with CCE to reencode the movie to the correct size. The results will be much better.
For the record, I have never seen a double layer disk with 4 movies where they didn't look like over compressed crap.Read my blog here.

ok igot the first half but whn i read teh rem i got confused. after i go to back up i burn then as iso file. then i use dvd rebuilder and and reencode it right, iso when do i compres them, should i compress them while ripping the movie to harddisk or dont compres thm at all. im sorry but im new to this and i have no idea at all. i just have the softwres but dont know wat to do. its like sitting onn a goldmine without a spade

If have got that far, I assume you understand how to get all three movies together into a single structure.
What happens next is up to you. If you are happy to let Shrink compress the movies for you, you can simply write the ISO and burn, and you are finished.
If you want a better result, then set compression in Shrink to No Compression, and backup to a HDD Folder. This will contain a DVD Structure that is too big to burn to a single layer DVD, but has all your movies in it. Load this into DVD Rebuilder and let it re-encode to the correct size. Given the likely amount of compression required, I would suggest 3 passes in CCE will do the job, and take around 7 - 8 hours on your PC.Read my blog here.
