    as much as you want , I guess, but video quality won't be there...

    What type format are the videos in? (this question is to help others, because I really can't help with this....)

    No.

    Put no more than 3-4 hours, depending on the quality of the encoder. This would be required for interlaced MPEG-2 that retains all or most of the quality of the source.

    If you try to cram 6 hours on a disc, it'll look like shit. You'll have to deinterlace, as well as dump resolution below the source. A VHS tape would be better.

    There is no fixed formula. You can put as many or as little hours as you like in theory. In practice this directly affects the quality though.

    Define "decent". What you think is decent on a 13" TV most likely won't be decent for me on a 50" plasma or projector set-up.

    IMHO you really need to do some tests of your own to see what quality you class as decent, and then work on that.
