  1. Hey if i understand correctly i downloaded a program trial like a year ago. Some majors changes happened and i want to try the newer version again but my computer knows i had an older version before. How do i delete the regisrty(i assume thats how the program knows) so i can try the newer version. Ps i am not trying to steal the software if i like it it is only $40.00 and will definitely buy it. i just dont want to pay the $40.00 and then find out they havent made as many improvements as they should have.

Unfortunately IMHO this could be preceived as trying to circumvent the trial period, despite your statement that it isn't. AFAIK you only get one trial and it's just bad luck after that
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. Thanks jimmalenko i could delete everything on my computer and do a clean install of windows xp. i know it may look like im trying to get over but im not it would literally take me less than 5 minutes of the trail to know whether i want to buy it or not.

You mean short of reformatting and reinstalling everything? Probably not much you can do. Try contacting the company and explain your problem and see what they have to say about the lousy way they set up their trial so if you're not happy with an early version you'll never be able to try a newer version.

    I'll say this only once:

If you do not know how to get around this, then I or anyone else cannot tell you as it goes against forum rules.

All I'll say is that there are a number of ways - it's possible.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. Download someting like RegCleanr to remove the link in the registry to the software.

  7. There can be legitimate reasons. Don't assume it's against rules right away.

Say I try brand X's trial s/w. Don't like the interface, don't buy it, trial lapse. Time goes by, still haven't found good s/w for my needs. Brand X has a new version available for trial with an improved interface.
Shouldn't I be able to try it?
I'm sure the company wants another chance to make a sale.

  8. Thanks Headbang im really not trying to steal anything. im not going to change the registry everytime the trial expires and thats the honest truth. i sent the owner an email explaining the problem so i am waiting to hear back from him. If i could try the updates version i would literally open the program and go to its export function and see the options if i dont see what i want i would delete it as there are other free option that ive been using

That's fine, but unfortunately the methods used also help those with less than genuine intentions to circumvent the trial period, sometimes endlessly, such that they never pay for the software.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  10. Hey Jimmalenko i understand what you are saying if i read the post i would possibly think the same thing. this isnt one of those times. if it works the way i want it i would be glad to buy it as the guy that made it has worked way to hard on it. its almost perfect except for the one feature i want

  11. In this case, I don't think that this is underhand. It's understandable that someone should want to try the version of some software that they may wish to buy.

However, discussion of how to do this may be construed as either the advocation of warez or simply a guide to, in effect, "crack" some software and I wouldn't want VideoHelp to be in hot water over that.

ultraman36 - the best thing you can do, in my opinion, is to e-mail the company who makes the software and ask them. They'll hopefully be able to help. Just now, I'd probably best lock this topic - sorry about that. If it's a problem, just drop me a PM and let me know - I'll see what I can do for you!

    Thanks guys,

    Cobra
