Every DVD I play with this 5-DVD home theater system skips frames in movies, resulting in slow, choppy playback. I'm guessing it's the laser precision that's degraded, since this player got bumped a bit during a recent move to a new house.

Is this beyond repair? If not, would I have to open it up and need some precision tools to re-align the laser or something? Thanks.

There isn't much that you can do yourself, most repair centers don't even calibrate, they just replace the whole laser mechanism. If you can find a shop that will look at it free or very cheap, it may be worth fixing. Otherwise, at todays prices, you would just be better off getting a new one.

I see... hope is gone... that DVD player is also a receiver, so ppl will probably look at it for a premium price, just in case they mess up the other receiver parts... wow. Gay!!!

Thanks for the advice; if anyone knows good shops in Macomb County, Michigan that can look at DVD players that are also receivers for cheap (which I doubt ANYONE here will know), please tell, I try to find all resources before I quit
