  1. Sorry everyone. I initialy posted this question to the wrong forum topic. I am a newbie to video capture. I am moving up from producing VCD slideshows with still images for playback on my home DVD player. What I would like to do now is capture the video from my old analog vcr tapes for playback in my home DVD player. After reading over some posts and other input from this website, I am thinking about the Dazzle Digital Video Creator. Right now I'm running an AMD Athlon 1200, 320 MB ram and 40 HD. Is this a good place to start

  2. You might consider the Canopus ADVC-100, an external analog to digital converter which interfaces to you PC via a firewire port. That way you can input all you video via the firewire and avoid internal solutions which take up your PC resources. See this post for more. http://forum.vcdhelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=84473&highlight=
Dazzle is also good but some people have had some problems with sync. The Canopus unit locks audio and video so no sync problem with capture.
Also read reviews here on Canopus.

    Good luck

  3. dgaulin,

I have basically the same setup as u. I'm using a Dazzle DVC2 and have taken my vhs and Hi8 tapes and converted them to CD's and DVD's with no sync problems. The video is not DVD quality, but its pretty good, as I just wanted to get the video of my son burnt to Cd's before the tape got too old and I lost all his stuff. If u want DVD quality use a DV cam, then capture and burn.

    Hope this helps,
    Zorin

P.S. here's the forum and the comments for the Dazzle DVC 2.
