  2. Hi Steta,

I was once in your shoes, as I often taped movies off TV, and just wanted to cut out the ads. Unfortunately video is much more processor and memory intensive then audio, hense the reason why all programs use a render function, which is often done at the end of a project.

This is where the POWER aspect of your computer is most important. Up to recent times, I was using a 1.7GIG computer, where it took me 20 hours to render a two hour video. I am now a very happy owner of a new 3.4GIG machine, which renders the same amount of material in 40 minutes, (more sleepful nights, no leaving computer on overnights)

I did try these programs, but to no avail:
    Womble VCR
    Power VCR
    Pure Motion Edit Studio 5
    Video Edit Magic 4
    Ulead Video Studio

Which leads me in the end in saying the best program for this is Sony Vegas 6. It's expensive, so you may want to pick up a second hand copy or older version on Ebay. Another good source for demo video programs is file sharing programs, (read between the lines).

And when you say simple, give sony vegas a fair go, it does take a bit of a learning curve, but you'll be glad you did.

I learned all this through months of frustration, and hope to save you from this frustration too. Good luck.

I daresay, that for simple cuts, Vegas is really overkill. At least womble does not reencode, so the cut process is as quick as it can be. Of course, more GHz means faster running apps, but as no encoding is done, it's not that critical in this instance.
