  1. just wondered if anyone knows what format dvd recorders record as ?
    i dont have one myself but i have been given a disk (dvd-rw) from a friend and he wants me to copy it for him.
    when i load it my pc doesnt see the disk and if i try to play it with windows media player it gives me the message unsuported format, and my dvd player does not play dvd-rw.

    any help would be great thanks

    He may not have finalized the disk correctly. You can try isobuster to see if you can copy the dvd to your hd with it.

    There are many standard video file formats. There are also many non-standard video file formats, especially those from China that a disc can hold tens of episodes drama ( you can spent a few days in front of your PC full time to watch just one DVD disc). You need to download the correct video decoder/player to watch them. Copying this type of video is easy, you simply drag & drop the files to your PC and them burn them as data file to DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW.

    harley2ride i tryed what you said with isobuster and it worked the only problem is i exsracted it with the only option it gave me ( extract user data ) and it saved a file called Track01.tao.
    i dont know what to do with that file now ?
    and i have never come across a .tao file before, can you help ?

    Is it a good sized file? Try renaming to either .mpg or .VOB and see if it reads.
