Hello
I have an odd file from my DIVCO HDTV card via iTele that I can't convert. Id like to learn more of this process to see whats the matter with this one in particular. its MPEG2 Muxed 640 x 480.

I usually open these files in Streamclip, fix any timecode breaks ( rare) and then comvert to mpeg files. then I convert these to quicktime files where I can edit them removing pbs ads etc, and save them in a much smaller file format of 320 x 240. these are mostly pbs cooking shows and how to shows etc.

but streamclilp will not open this file. the little rounding cursor just goes round and round forever and I have to force quit.

some of these files from the divco card open in SC right away, some take a few minutes. any idea why that is? this one never opens.

it plays in MPlayer OS X 2, does not play in VLC player and can't be read by SimpleMovieX. in ffmpegx when I try to convert it to the divx formats I understand, it convest in less than a second creating a 0 k file. the original file is about 1 GB

so there must be some errors in the file itself. anything I can do to convert it. Its a router ( woodworking ) show and they are rare!

any ref page I can go to to learn more about mpeg 2 etc?

thaks rotuts
