  1. Hi all,

I have a .AVI video file and from the same movie the subtitles in a .SRT file. Using VirtualDub and TMPGEnc, I want to convert this video to MPEG2 to put it on CD.

How can I add the subtitles to the MPEG stream? I do not want permanent subtitles.

    TIA,
    Klara

First, encode your video and audio (without subs) with TMPGEnc.

Then, convert your .srt sub into Philips SVCD style subs with MaestroSBT. This should generate separate bitmaps for every sub and a .sub file for the bitmap timing info.

Use submux to add the subtitle stream into your TMPGEnc encoded SVCD compatible mpg, and burn with newest VCDEasy, for example (Nero didn't work for me when trying to burn a subbed SVCD, for some reason).
