I have a lot of short clips with subtitles.

When i use these in Toast 8 and create a menu with them,
i can not see them on my DVD.
How can i ceate an option to activate/de-activate them on the DVD?

Only Apple DVD Studio Pro comes to mind
when you're dealing with multiple subtitled 'episodes'
    on a more-than-basic menued DVD.

    Thanks for the reply,

This really s***s....... But when i copy these files to DVD through toast, can you activate the subs using the subtitles button from the remote control of the DVD player?

Anyway forgot to tell you Case, i've bought a serial for Hawkeye.
But the program is almost the same as working with Toast 8.

A week later my harddrive crashed and gone was all my mail and also my serialnumber.
mailed this guy for a new one but he never replied to my mails.

Gone was my money.... and now i have a demo copy back.

To all of the guys who are reading this.... Never buy a serial for this program.
This guy will never reply back, and i think you can wave goodbye to your money.
Don't think there will be an update also.

Toast ignores the subtitles, unless you just burn a VIDEO_TS folder that was made by some other program.
If you let Toast author the DVD, then there will be no subs on the disc.

I'm sorry to hear that. But the best way to guard for data loss has always been a regular backup. A utility to monitor the SMART status of hard drives is also helpful.

    Thanks again Case,

I need the subs to go into my clips, one way or another.
    If not separate then burned......

But i can not burn them into my files.

Also i can not change the height of the subs, it seems locked.
I want the subs on the same height as they were showing in the preview.

It's really sad that this is only possible with DVD Pro.
I'm not gonna buy a program for $1500, only to author some DVD's.

If i want to spend an amount like that i will buy a new computer.

It's sad that there is only SIZZLE ( a prehistoric program), Hawkeye (that hardly works) and Toast 8.

Maybe it's time to buy a PC......

With the DVD mpeg2enc preset and Decode with mplayer selected, the subs will get burned in.

True, very unfortunate. The previous version of mencoder handled that better. You can install that version, ffmpegX will notice it's the 'wrong' version, but you may ignore that.
There should be some threads about this on the board.

    Thanx for your answer Case,

I've found a thread of someone who changes his mencoder from old to new, from new to old.
He mentions the old version as 5.1 MB.
i still have an old version stocked on a data disc.
Can you tell me case if this is the one that i need?

    Mencoder, Size 5.1 MB, July 18 2004

If so i hopefully can change the height of the fonts.

By the way Case, i did some authoring with hawkeye and it's using the fonts on the DVD player, only it gives me some strange font. The colour seems to be White and Lightgray.

    Is this normal?

You need the mencoder binary from the ffmpegX 0.0.9s release, which is ffmpegXbinaries230105.zip. I don't think you'll need or want an even older version.

    I couldn't say.

I think i don't need the older version anymore.
I am now burning subs in the clips.

When i use the DVD MpegEnc, and when i check the VOB subtitles, i can change the height of the
    subtitles again.

    Anyway, thanks Case......

    It works
