VCD playback on Toshiba SD3750 DVD player

Im having problems playing VCDs or MP3 on the mentioned DVD player. When Playing VCDs, encoded at many different bitrates and settings, it always skipps and gets blocky. When playing MP3s, it creates many odd 'artifacts' like bubbling and popping sounds. Ive tried Memorex Black CDr, Kodak CD-R Gold Ultima and HP CDRW-s (which, BTW, give the best results)

Ive tried burning with Nero, and VCDEasy, and get pretty much the same results. If anyone had the same experience, and found a way to resolve it, i would greatly apreciate any help. Maybe I should try another Brand of CDrs, but i dotn know which one beause i already tried the most expensive ones, and no luck.
