Is there anyway to stop the skipping during scene transitions? Because even though they're minor, it's still disturbing to watch. The episodes I'm trying to burn to DVD are all 23 FPS, and I have a NTSC Tv. The lowest that can go is 29 if I believe. I use TMPGNCE for my encoding. Also one last thing, is it possible to get higher quality with MPEG's? Because......it's pretty shoddy compared to the AVI right now :/

Encode to 29.976 or set pull down flags(23.976p -> NTSC 3-2 pulldown). Are you using vcd or dvd templates?
Quality is my policy. -
i have this problem to. only if my AVI/XVID source is 23.976fps, i cant seem to convert them to .m2v with tmpgenc without lag.
i used "3:2 pulldown when playback", and "23.976 fps (internally 29.97 fps)"
the resulting video is laggy
then i try "Non-interlace", and "23.976 fps". (then use dgpulldown to convert to 29.97 fps)
the resulting video after tmpgenc is laggy, and the resulting video after dgpulldown is still laggy.
are we/ am i doing something wrong with the settings? -
Thanks. I'll try that tomorrow, but I've spent my whole day just getting the screen size to fit. I eventually got it, but now I'm taking a rest. The part for quality is tomorrowOriginally Posted by junkmalle

Very sorry for double posting but I have another question about the quality.
During scenes where alot of action is going on, the quality really drops and you can see pixels all around the characters. I was wondering if there was anything I could do that might improve the quality. Thanks in advance. -
You need to increase the bitrate. If you're using CBR this will increase the file size, alternatively you could switch to VBR which can allocate more bits to the high action scenes and keep the same file sizeOriginally Posted by KingWaddleDee"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa

Currently it's 1150 bitrate. How much should I increase it to? Because I don't really just want to guess a number like 2000, and keep using up DVD's trying, thanks.Originally Posted by ZippyP.

Nobody can tell you. Every video is different. Try using Constant Quality mode and forget about bitrates. Try a quality level around 80. If that's not good enough go higher.Originally Posted by KingWaddleDee
