Hi all,
I have a 30+ sec movie on my pc that displays as a (screensaver).
1- what format is a screensaver usually?
2- how can I convert it to .avi?
Elaborate as much as u can please.
This is extremely urgent, it's for a client.
PS: this screensaver movie used " indeo codec". That, I'm sure off.
Help Please,
VERVE

Can you find the avi as a seperate file ? If so, you have no problems. If you cannot, because somehow it has been embedded in the screensaver, you are pretty much screwed. You might be able to try a screen capture program, such as camtasia, however most of these won't grab screensavers, and may struggle to keep the framerate high enough to get a decent picture.
That it requires a codec to be installed seems to imply that a video does exist, so I would start by searching for the file.Read my blog here.

A resource hacker should be able to extract it from the exe/scr file.

well it came on a cd and i had to install it just like installing a software. then it required the indeo codec to play.
it created an icon on desktop for "testing" and some options..like "enable dual monitor view". so I'm not really sure what's up with that.
PS: by searching for avi, u mean regular file name search using windows??...does that work?
maybe i'll try capturing from screen, but as u said it probably wont work.
anymore suggestions please?
thanx

simple search is *.avi, just to list all the files you have.
If you are feeling adventurous, and can find the screen saver file (ends with .scr) or it's resource files (could be a .dll or similar), then follow the druid's advice and have a peek inside. You can find a tool to do this here -> http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/ or here -> http://www.wilsonc.demon.co.uk/d7resourceexplorer.htmRead my blog here.
