Trouble Backing up

Im trying copy one of my dvds, its Friends Season 6 disk. I have tried Nero Recode,Dvd shrink and DVDFabDecrypter with Anydvd and dvd43. I get to about 99% then get a cant read vob...6 error and the app stalls. I have tried playing tried playing both a few moments and the entire dvd before copying and still no luck.
Any suggestions

You have a defective disc or if you are lucky, just a dirty disc. Try cleaning it to see if that helps.

Thats what I thought at first, but the disk plays fine in my dvd player.

A player will often just skip over a bad spot and you may not even notice it. But when you are copying it in a computer, it is reading it bit for bit. IF it hits a bad spot, it retries a number of times in an effort to read the bad spot. If it fails to read with the retries, you're stuck. You might try DVD Decrypter with ignore read errors set to see if you can get by the bad spot. I have had mixed results with this. Even if you are able to get by the bad spot, the resulting imperfect copy may be structurally damaged and not work right.

@jrv331, have you used DVD DECRYPTER? I know it isn't updated any longer, yet I still like having it and when the is a movie I have aproblem with Decrypter never fails...unless it is badly scratched. I have ANYDVD in the background (ver. 5.4.1.1.) and it does a fantastic job. I really do not use shrink as much as others I tend to like Intervideo Copy 3 or CloneDVD 2, for really big compression I always use Dvd Rebuilder Pro/CCE Basic for encoder (yet, any of the free encoders that come with the installer are better than many of the transcoders!..my opinion of course!)

I just tried DVD decrypter and had the same problem. Although I did not try the ignore feature. I'll try that and see what happens. I normally use DVD43, just downloaded the trial version of Anydvd to see if that was the problem.
