  1. Hello if you were taking a poll and tried every dvd player in the usa which would play on the larger percentage of players?
I use prodisc +r and they have worked on most all players i have tried them on.I found some cheap Pro disc -r was curious if they would be as good?

  2. DVD-R is supposed to be more compatible than DVD+R but if you change a DVD+R's booktype to DVD-ROM,then it is more compatible than DVD-R.

That is not at all true.
DVD-R used to be about 25% more compatible than DVD+R
When booktype came to be, that knock it down to just about 5% difference.

So DVD-R is still more compatible, but only by 5%. And of that 5%, most of it is for older players. Newer players maybe 1-2% difference. I still see maybe 1 unit a month that cannot play DVD+R, but that's about it.

In other words .... almost the same. Almost.

  6. You can use the popular Nero Burning ROM,Nero CD-DVD Speed and DVDDecrypter to change the booktype.Changing the booktype to DVD-ROM for DVD+R fans is a good idea because it is more compatible with DVD Players.
Thats why people who cannot change the booktype with their writer's original firmware, download hacked firmware in order to do so.

  7. the booktype thing, is just the part of the disc, that tells the drive what kind of disc it is.

dvd-r's have them hard encoded onto the blanks, so it can't be changed.

dvd+r's allow it to be written. So if a player will only allow dvd-rom disc, you set the bitsetting thing to dvd-rom, and you basically trick the player into thinking your +r disc is a dvd-rom.

however as above stated, new players are getting better, and its not much of a difference on new players, hell ever my xbox plays +r's.

its rather nice, I've used -r's for the longest time, but as of late i've only been finding made in japan stuff on sale thats +r, so i finally upgrade my drive to one with bitsetting, problem solved, now I can use whatsever good and onsale
