Getting around copyrighted stuff

Is there a device I can hook up to my video equipment to copy copyrighted DVDs and VHS tapes? I think Go Video makes a device like this. Can anybody confirm? What is the device called?

SIMA make a product that is supposed to do this -> http://www.simacorp.com/ - look at their video enhancers. They are effectively cheap in-line timebase correctors (TBCs).

By far the simplest way to copy DVDs is with your PC. The quality will be much higher, and in many cases 1:1 with the original.

I don't think it would be if they were your very own copies that you were attempting to dub. I know I'd feel more comfortable in the reliability of DVD copies than I would of original VHS tapes that I own. I bought at least 3 VHS tapes off of Ebay and despite good packaging, all three of them arrived with broken flaps on the cartridge. I was able to repair them by taking the casing of a blank tape and transferring the tape to it, but I'd simply rather dub the VHS onto DVD and then store the VHS away.
