DVD Media Center USB 2.0 Edition

I recently perchased this and everything seems to be working fine, except my MSN messenger won't recognize it. Before it I had MGI videowave, unfortunately lightning stuck it UGH. To make a long story short I could share whatever is on my television with my cousin and friends with MGI, but not with this . The setup is the same, so I am a bit confused. I'm not really good at explaining stuff , but take a look at the pics. Is there anything I can do so that the audio /video tuning wizard will recognize it?? Thanks in advance :P

  2. Not sure if this is the problem but I had an Adaptec Videoh DVD USB ( AVC-2200). It had a proprietary driver so most software would not recognize it; only a few programs like Sonic MyDVD.

Here is a comment about the AVC-2200,

" As others have mentioned it's chained to the bundled hardware. It's proprietary drivers don't allow it's use with any other software. It does not use the Windows WDM drivers. "

Thanks for your response. That really bites... It was the cheapest program at circuit city which is why I purchased it I'm wondering if I should take it back and change for the dazzle program which is actually better according to the salesman there--- it has USB 2.0 hispeed. Do you know anything about it??

  4. Sorry, no. I stopped using the capture device after acquiring a recorder. I remember that the Adaptec would occasionlly have sound sync problems. A tape dropout would cause the capture to stop. I think that was the MyDVD software. I believe that it would also not capture at a bitrate higher than about 6 Mbs.

    How much was the Adaptec?

darn!! The adaptec was on clearance for $68.99 I believe . I actually like it better than MGI videowave, because the picture quality is so much better, and I actually have sound on the PC, I can watch with my television off. Oh well, I will go back to Circuit City tomorrow to change to the dazzle which is 79.99

P.S. I took the Adaptec back and came home with ADS Tech : Instant VideoMPX-- It works like MGI videowave, so far so good :P

  7. It looks like a simple device. How does the picture quality compare to the Adaptec?

It's quite simple, but it does exactly what I need. Meanwhile Adaptec's picture quality is way better , but I can't complain .
    Thanks again :P
