While this recorder produces excellent results it is very fussy about what blank media it will use. I had been using ProDisc Injet Printable +R bought from Rima.com with great success but the last order I got would not work, guess ProDisc changed manufacturers. Can anyone who uses this recorder recommend any Injet Printable media in +R not -R which will work on the Plex 708? Thank you for your time and recommendation.
    Thank You,

I've used MAXELL PRINTABLE DVD+R media MADE IN JAPAN with my PLEXTOR 708A drive and it works quite well. Media ID is MAXELL-002-00. I purchased a 25 pack spindle from Wally worlds. I can't remember the exact price I paid for that spindle but I know it was under 70 cents a disc. :P

    Your welx!
I don't think many members in here have the PLEXTOR 708a dvd burner. Try posting your question at the PLEXTOR FORUM at CDFREAKS.COM.

Very surprising, I would have thought many members would have this very popular recorder but I will try your suggestion Redbudz, thank you again for your time and reply, I really appreciate it. Have a great evening.

Is your firmware up to date? I don't know about the Plextor 708 in particular, but often times older burners work better with the latest firmware revision. If this applies to your 708, you might find that -R printable media will work for you.

SCDVD thanks for the reply. Yes firmware is up to date, 1.09. I am trying to stay aware from -R because I think +R is going to win the battle eventually and -R will be history, just my gut feeling, could be wrong.
    Thank You,

What is the Media code/Manufacturer ID ?
I have been using the Prodisc hub printables for many months now and have not had a problem, but im using a liteon and NEC burner. i just finished off 2 50 packs and just got another 100 about 2 days ago.

I did notice acouple of hundred disc's ago they stopped printing the small black code #'s around the center hole, now they are there bu just like stamped in and clear.

Noahtuck unfortunately I forgot the media code before sending them back to Rima but I think I would recognize it if someone else knew the codes for Prodisc. It is really ashame that Prodisd changed as it was a great white inkjet printable disc and I had 100% success using my plex 708 on 2 each 100disc spindles.
