  2. Sounds like your PC may still be crawling with a trojan/worm/spyware or two...

BTW, I suggest changing your title into something that reflects your problem.

Did the "professional" install your display drivers? Go to the manufactures site of your graphics card, and get the latest drivers. Most likely your using the default windows drivers which won't take full advantage of your display card. To find out got to start>control panel>system> (here I'm not sure about 98 ) hardwre devices>device manager and see what your diplay adapter is listed as and what driver it's using. If it differs from the one on the manufacturers site install it as instructed.

That may not help with the video but will with the games and it's a good place to start.

  8. What kind of games and stuff are you trying to run?

I see by your spec, it says 800ghz. Could it be just too slow?

Your computer isn't the fastest to start with, but you could have got re-infected with a virus or trojan.
Download AdAwareSE personal, and run it, and use an up to date virus checker. AVG is free. Install a firewall such as Zone Alarm (also free).
Another thing to check, is seeing what other processes are running in the background. Ctrl/Alt/Del to see what's running. Anything not needed should be shut down. Microsoft Office's "Fast Finder" can drag your computers speed down significantly for instance.
Take thecoalman's advice and check your video card drivers.
Go to START-SETTINGS-CONTROL PANEL, then select SYSTEM-DEVICE MANAGER and look at DISPLAY ADAPTER. Check what drivers are being used. You could well need a visit to the manufacturers site to get the latest drivers for your video card.

Thats a thought too, if it was a fresh install and it was a outdated version of Win98 just connecting to the internet can put you at risk. That's probably one of the most vulnerable for a computer is the first connect to the internet without the updates if your not running a firewall.
