nope, but I'm sure you 'll tell us when you find them.

  3. If you currently have Quicktime Pro, you will no longer have its features. QT7 will overwrite your whole 6.0 installation. So if you need the Pro features, hold off until you are willing to buy into it again.

Apple has a revert to 6 installer and you can reinstall Pro features again, but it takes some finagling.

I downloaded QT7 on my G4 Powermac at work late yesterday, and it ran fine. Of course it disabled the installation of QTPro I had installed on that machine.

I wanted to check out H.264 and used BitPlayer's export function to do a very quick encode. The results are very impressive. Actually, at first I encoded a short clip and it looked pretty awful, then I noticed that QT7 changes the bitrate measurement from Kbytes/s to Kbits/s, so what I thought was a low 50KB was actually an even lower 6-7KB/s at 320x240. Bumping the bitrate to 400Kb/s and the clip looked great.

The encoding was slow, however, and when I tried to use Diva and MPEG Streamclip to export an MPEG2 clip to H.264, they both crashed. I guess we'll need to wait for some updates.

The DivX plugin is buggy under QT 7. Movies minimized to the Dock will get "stuck" there. They won't un-minimize. Also, the DivX plugin will cause two "Help" menus to appear side-by-side in various applications.

Also, performance of the 3ivx plugin is degraded under QT 7 resulting in jerky playback.

It looks as if both codecs will need updates.

I experienced a crash as well, but I thought it was because it discovered it wasnt running with QT7Pro enabled. I dont yet have a Pro key.

I bought a Pro key (and I'll claim it as a work expense) and MPEG SC still crashes, unfortunately. With Diva, there is an extra wrinke: I removed the 3ivx component from the QT library, and ran Diva. You can select H.264 from the codec list and it will work when there is no bitrate limit set. Set a limit and it crashes. It encodes fast, but with very high bitrates, 300+KBytes/s.

Hi, some have said if you minimize QT7 to the dock it won't continue to play and only give audio. Also some have a ripple effect when trying to play back certain content along with (if you have a G5 iMac) it will max out your fans
Everything went fine with my stuff so far but I haven't used it as much as some will.

I'm unable to encode DVD-Video with Toast 6.0.9. The program seems to quit sometime in the encoding process. Roxio seems to be aware of the problem as they have posted a vague note on their discussion boards. Perhaps I'll try reinstalling the app and see what happens. Oh and divx playback seems to be improved by using DivX 5.2.1 rather than 3ivx, 3ivx and DivX Doctor resulted an awful, pixilated, jumpy playback. I hope this stuff gets ironed out soon.

Here's my console log if that tells anyone anything:

I have this too, but only with some fairly demanding videos - 640x480 at 50fps

I admit to being surprised that QT7 came up as a Software Update
feature, which usually(?) doesn't involve money changing hands. I
was more surprised when it wouldn't work.

The "rewind" to QT6 download is only for OSX 10.3.9. Funny, that
just happens to be the OS I'm running.

I've no idea what's going on.
