What's the best programme to create a jpg slideshow for DVD-R ? I have hundreds of pics on my harddrive and I want to burn them onto DVD.
Can anyone recommend a free programme to do so ?
Thanks

I've had good results with MemoriesOnTV, easy to use, you can add music (time sync) to play wit the slides and several effects for the display of the pics and the transitions.
You'd better get the DVD/SVCD plugin right away, the standard VCD isn't that great.

OOPS
You asked for a FREE program, I'm affraid MemoriesOnTV isn't free. Sorry.

I don't know of any free programs but l agree with SARK MemoriesOnTV is a very good program. I tried OnDVD that came with my memory card reader but I was not happy with the quality of the pictures.

Slide Show Movie Maker is FREE...(available in the "TOOLS" section over there on the left. You add your pics, sounds, choose transitions, etc...the it creates an AVI which can then be converted to mpg for DVD authoring

while I do agree that MemoriesOnTV and ULead DVD Picture Show are good programs, original post asked for "a free progamme"...
...SSMM is free, and even though there might be an extra step involved (conversion from avi to mpeg)...(and your sound files have to be in wav format) I still think it's one of the best out there...

Don't forget the new Nero 6.3 has a slideshow app as part of Nero Vision Express 2.
I was looking into slideshows the other day and came across MemoriesOnTV, but for me it had the flaw of being expensive when you add the MPEG2 plugin.
The Nero slideshow app integrates into the authoring part of NVE2 as well (very much like TMPGEnc DVD Author) but doesn't have as many fade/wipe effects as MOTV.
Personally I think Nero is a very mature product now, encompassing a wide range of features/tools (especially now it's absorbed DVDShrink3b5 into Recode2!)
Combine Nero 6.3 with AnyDVD and you have pretty much all you need for DVD creation IMHO. -
I'll have to cast my vote along with the others for MemoriesOnTV. It's a simple program that you pay about $50 which includes the mpeg2 encoder, but the Ken Burn Effect and the fantastic transition effects are what sold me.

Are there any DVD Slideshow programs where you can select all .jpg's at once, rather than having to do one at a time.
I havent looked around enough but im sure theres one out there.
I put my jpg's into a folder and have to add one pic at a time using Nero 6.
Just looking for something quicker that would give me the option to select all.

Ulead's DVD Picture Show lets you place all the jpegs all at once using their "batch insert option".

Yes but isnt Ulead DVD Pictureshow for putting pics onto CD's?
They call it DVD Pictureshow because you can play the CD on your home DVD.
I was looking for something to put pics onto DVD.
Of course I may be thinking of a different program than Ulead.

Proshow Gold yielded extremely good looking results once it was done. Was much better then ulead and a few others i tried. Of course it's not freeware though

@ giggo21 - I've not used it, but check out DVD slideshow GUI - might be just what you want. It's free, and outputs direct to MPEG2 (I'm guessing it uses a third party encoder) rather than AVI.
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
Carpe diem.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room. -
I would also recommend Photo2DVD Studio for making slideshows. You have nearly 150 transitions and many free menu templates. Not free, but functional, very enjoyed.
