  1. I recently got a DVD-r of 2 concerts that had been recorded on a stand alone recorder. I used DVD Decrypter to rip the 2 sets of vob files (& merge each set into 1 long file) so that I could import them into a DVD authoring prog and make a menu'd & chapter'd disk out of them.

I re-named them from .vob to .mpg, and when I play them back using windvd or mediaplayer, the slide bar goes through them in about 6 seconds, stating that they are 6 seconds long, even though they continue to play. They play all the way through but the slider is right at the end of the seek bar.

I ignored this and imported them into ulead dvd workshop and the results are even more disappointing, it states 6 seconds and actually stops playing after 6 secs making it impossible to chapter.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

    Cheers!

You can't just rename the files. You need to demux out the audio file and the video file. There are plenty of demuxes out there.

Also, you didn't need to "rip" the files. Just drag-and-drop them to your HD.

  3. Thanks for the reply.

So it looks like I was doing things very wrong.

I'm gonna start fresh again, I just removed the 3 vob files (that make up one of the concerts) from the DVD-R.

Could I trouble you for some more info please? Do I need to demux these 3 files or join them? If so maybe I should have gone about it like I originally did - used DVD Decypter to remove the vob's and join them as it went along

    Thanks for reading.

  5. Ulead can import but will break at at each Vob,Best way to do this is rip the DVD into "One Big File" with DVD Decrypter, then De-mux and use that in Ulead.

  6. I ripped the 3 vob files using DVD Decrypter and had it merge them into one. I just tried DVD Workshop and it won't accept the vob file.

  7. Okay I THINK I fixed the problem.....I demuxed the vob file with vobedit, then used TMPG Enc to do a simple de multiplex and the outputted mpeg file seems okay now.

Gonna try again tomorrow to create my DVD.

    Thanks all.
