  1. What is your workflow for editing DV in FCP, bringing compressed footage into combustion [or After Effects] for compositing, then BACK into FCP for re-editing, and out to DVD for presentation?

What do you use to compress video when exporting from FCP for use in combustion? And combustion back into FCP? Is using Uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2 [or 8-bit?] the only compression method available for creating lossless video files?

    Thanks.

If you use the QUICKTIME REFRENCE MOVIE output,
it doesn't actually have to render anything as it just makes pointers and uses the original file directly as its been expained to me.....

yes always go out as a ref movie, to ae or combustion. then from either ap, render out to the codec you're editing in, and drop it back in the time line.

  4. I feel like I should have known about that earlier... +_~

I would have saved myself a hell of a lot of disk space. Thanks for the tips.

EDIT: Just to make 110% sure, when I export from AE or combustion back into FCP, I set the compression settings to DV/DVCPRO?

[I am kicking myself in the ass right now for wasting so much time.]
