  1. My apologies if this sounds like a dumb question.

Is it possible to simultaneously receive my cable signal and my high-speed Internet through the same wall outlet?

  2. Yes.

You have to split the connection coming out of the wall with a splitter (just like you would if you wanted to run cable to to two tvs or other components).
One leg will go to the tv the other to the cable modem.

  3. Yes - use a splitter or Y-cable - plug the incoming cable into the splitter, and one of the two cables coming from it into your cable modem and the other to your television/cable-box. I have my cable internet coming into my cable modem and the other cable from the splitter plugged into my tv-capture card.

  4. Cool thanks!

Didn't know if it would require any type of in-line filter or what not.

Get GOOD quality splitters.....not those cheap walmart/kmart ones.
Radio Shack would be your best bet.

  6. yeah, what they said. Cable co's. , however, tell you not to split it once inside the home. I think it's mainly to avoid service calls cause people using cheap splitters or bad connections will have internet probs.

I forget the size numbers for the cable but don't use the small one. I think the correct size is 57?

When I got Road Runner from Time Warner cable, they sent me a home self install kit so I didnt have to pay the $55 installation charge. It came with two or three standard "Y" splitters. Have had no problems with standard speeds at 2.0mbps, sometimes jumping to 3.0mbps on these standard splitters.
