I am trying to convert a Xvid Avi file/s to burn to DVD, but I keep getting the wrong aspect ratio compared to the original.
I tried the settings DVD ffmpeg / Autosize to DVD 16:9 / Letterbox to 16 16 16 16 but still I get a bit narrower picture.
When I save the Avi file to .Mov and try the same settings with ffmpeg, I get the correct aspect ratio, but picture is darker.
Is there a setting I could use to encode the Avi directly and get the correct aspect ratio of the original?
My Avi source file is:
Format: 640x272
Frame Rate: 23.98
And others with little difference.

What I would do:
NTSC:
Video Size:720x360 letterboxing of: 60,60,0,0
Pal
Video Size:720x432 letterboxing of: 72,72,0,0
(All values divisible by 8 )
DVD ffmpeg, 16:9, decode with quicktime off
Cheers

I found the solution:
Choose DVD ffmpeg, Widescreen 16:9,
Filter Menu:
Letter Box are: 16 16 16 16
Options:
Decode with QuickTime including Letter Box.
Enjoy.

Okay, now what if my source video is identical to yours except it's in PAL format. Can I simply change it NTSC Film? Wil that cause audio sync issues?
