  1. Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for getting 100 DVD+Rs for under $40 shipped. The only stores I have near me is a walmart and a staples, but neither have good deals the past times I've dropped by - Staples mostly having only their brand, too.

The past few times I've purchased, I've gotten 2 50-pack spindles from BestBuy.com, but as of late they've taken away their free shipping. I'm kind of watching the money right now.

Everytime I get back to this site, i try to find threads with deals, but always seem to have the bad luck of finding out the rebates expired. Any suggestions online @ a reliable webstore w/ quality discs would be gladly appreciated. Preferably no mail-in rebates.

  2. Sounds like ordering Fuji from Bestbuy.com is out for you, too bad. If Staples has TDK, Sony, Maxell, Fuji... for sale, they all use excellent media, at least with some of their media codes. I've used Staple's Teon branded discs with zero problems, those discs are often VERY cheap. The +R discs are CMC E01, these are excellent discs on all my burners. Prodisc media has also been good for me and can be found online at pretty good prices.

These have been good discs for me, Ritek R03. They are about $28 shipped, after rebate (they are still only $40 before rebate, shipped).

    Same discs, similar price.

  5. Hazleton, Pennsylvania. I'm gonna take a look at all these sites and check it out. Maybe I'll try to get to Staples today or tom and maybe get the $10 25-spindle. Last few times I've gone theyve been sold out.

    Thanks for the tips guys.

Are these any good (or bad for that sake?)

  6. I myself would use any of the links I provided. Even use www.rima.com It might take almost a week for shipping but you can get high quality disks insted of getting who knows what at stores.

Don't just check the prices at Staples. Check other stores, also, like Office Depot and Office Max. I'm not sure how it is up there, but, stores in my area will match a competitor's price, if you bring the ad in with you.
If Staples is having a sale and they are sold out, ask for a rain check. Unless it is a special purchase from the manufacturer (and this will be noted in the ad) or some special deal that the store got, they will give you one.

I think you will really like the Staples brand Teon's like the other poster stated. Great media code and the last batch I bought I got 40 packs for next to nothing after rebate!!!

  9. PhoneMatt,

I wish I would've caught your message before I headed out. I went to Staples and ended up finding 4 25 packs (Sony) for $40 plus tax deal. I definately have to remember that for next time though. I had no clue Staples had a price-match guarentee.

Thanks for all who helped. Much appreciated.

Staples will probably not pricematch except to local competitors, in your case as you said you only have Wal-mart and Staples so it wouldn't matter.

Anyway, $.40 per disc is a pretty good price, if they're good media (they probably are). Use DVDInfo or DVDIdentifier to check the media code of the discs, having TY media would be ideal. Looks like Sony media has mixed results:

Supermedia have 100 dvd+r TY's at $43, or consider dvd-r's at even better deals.

No need to even DL DVDIndentifier or the other one.

Open Decrypter, shift it into ISo Write mode (hit W), put the media in, and you'll see something like this:

    Disc Information:
    Status: Empty
    Erasable: No
    Free Sectors: 2,298,496
    Free Space: 4,707,319,808 bytes
    Free Time: 510:48:46 (MM:SS:FF)
    Supported Write Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 8x, 12x

    Pre-recorded Information:
    Manufacturer ID: MXL RG03

The Manufacturer ID = the Media Code/Media ID (abbrev. MID).

    Cheers,

I would totally avoid two suggestions I saw here so far:

    - Stay away from CMC media
    - Stay away from shop4tech

Any online store will have good media for under $40 USD for 100

  16. Try this:

    http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?ref=performics&product_code=316430&pfp=SEARCH

    This came from:

    http://www.techbargains.com/tellafriend2.cfm/41594

This is 100 FMI 4X DVD+Rs for $19.99, no rebate. In store only. Expires 03/19/05.

I bought some but haven't tried them so I can't vouch for the quality.

circuit city stores and online are selling their ESA dvd+r and -r media for 7 bucks for a 25 pack. Making it .28 cents a disc. I bought 3 packs, they seem to work very well. They're made in Taiwan though, dont know the media code.

Never had a problem with CMC, used over 500 discs. Never had a problem with Shop4Tech, I've ordered from them several times. Their packaging could use improvement, but I've never had any sort of damage.

Bet you anything they're NOTMaxells, but Ritek G04's. Strange how the same kind of offers reach around the world. Check them, cos if they're the G04's half crapped out when I fell into the same trap. If you can't check the media ID, see if they say "made in Japan" on the box
