I was looking for a dvd player with specific features, I was hoping somebody can recommend a player for me. I need a 5-disc carousel, flawless dvd+/-r playback, good mp3 interface, good jpeg interface, vcd playback, and optical digital audio output. I'm willing to part with the carousel for a single disc though. And I need it to be cheap, under 150 dollars, and preferably can be bought in-store in the U.S.
recordable dvd playback compatability is important to me.
Owners of these dvd players can you tell me something about these I am considering
Philips DVP 642
Pioneer DV-270
On the mp3 menu, can you browse the mp3 disc while a song plays, or do you have to skip songs one by one 50 times to get to mp3 #50?
Do they play dvd+r in dvd+vr mode? And how about dvd-r/rw and +rw?
Do they thumbnail jpegs in the menu?

Look up the Panasonic F65. I know it will do most of what you mention. Can't be sure about MP3 and JPEG right now. Look it up under DVD players...
