Might have to do with what else is on that cable that your DVD burner is on. For instance I have a 2nd HDD as a SLAVE and my DVD burner as the MASTER on the same IDE cable.

If the HDD is hooked up I only burn 1.9x to 2.0x but if I unhook the HDD then it burns at 8x as it should since it is a 8x DVD Burner and I use 8x DVD-R discs.

So try unhooking whatever 2nd device you have that is on the same cable as the DVD burner. If you do that make sure the DVD burner is set as the MASTER device and not the SLAVE.

Lite on burners don't like TDK.

My lite on 451 burns TDK 8x at 2x.

Lite on burners are quite picky with DVD-R
    snappy phrase

    I don't know what you're talking about.

This must be true because I've heard it before and there is a recent thread where someone even had trouble using Taiyo Yuden on a LiteOn drive.

What a POS they must be!
