I have an athlon 2100 cpu w/ 480 megs of ram/32 of it shared by onboard video card. I am looking to add a video card. I dont need to capture i have a pvr15o i just want something that will allow me to play mpegs better. Is this what i need??? I was looking at a powercolor radeon 9250 at pricewatch for $39 for a 128mb or $69 for a 256mb. I have an agp slot to add. I would like to stay in these price ranges does anyone have any better opinions on different cards. I dont do alot of gaming i just want to be able to edit my stuff i capture and watch it.

Either one would probably work for you. The same 9250 chipset is used in models by Asus, Gigabyte, and Sapphire. I use a Sapphire 9550 to run a HDTV setup and it works well. It was about $60US on sale.
That is a 8X card, which should work fine with newer MBs. The 256 model is probably a better choice if you are going to run more than one monitor. For just everyday use and no intensive gaming, the 128MB would probably be enough. Editing has little to do with a video card, but playback may improve. If nothing else you should be able to run higher resolutions and refresh rates. -
Not that either one won't be an improvement, BUT have you tried upping the shared memory to 64MB in the BIOS? That will still leave you with 448MB for OS and programs. It still may not be to your liking but it's worth a shot and won't cost you anything to try.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
