  1. I am trying to back up my copy of the grudge and i have a question.

I use mac the ripper to rip, and ffmpegx to compress, and toast to burn onto a cd-r, my question is...what file type should I have ffmpeg kick out in order to use toast to put onto a disc? Any help would be great, and any suggestions on different programs would be great.

  2. Edit: sorry, misread your post

  3. Ok, maybe I am not clear enough...I am really new to this. As far as I know in order to back a disc up on a cd-r to play in a dvd player, you need to rip the dvd, I use mac the ripper. Then compress, I want to use ffmpeg...but for the life of me, i can't get it to work. I need to know what file I need to conert the video_ts folder to, in order to use toast to burn the movie onto a cd-r to play in a dvd player at home. I followed one of the tutorials on the ffmpeg site, and I still can't get it to work, I just need a little help, or at least a nudge in the right direction...please!

stevie, sorry didn't see your post, thanks but I need to burn to a cd-r as my g4 laptop doesn't have a dvd-r writer, just a cd-r writer

For one DVD to one CD-R, then DivX/XviD/Mpeg-4 might be a viable solution, that is, if your player supports that. If not, then (S)VCD might be better suitable.

  5. Ok, so if I use (s)vcd for example, I need to convert the avi from the initial compression to an svcd file, and then burn that? If so, how do I do that with ffmpeg, because I have tried and it just keeps failing or says that I need to get rid of spaces and special characters in the source file name.

    What AVI?
Use "SVCD mpeg2enc" instead of "SVCD ffmpeg" for VIDEO_TS input.

  7. ahhh, i see now, so I don't have to do an avi, just use the video_ts folder and convert to svcd...thanks much
