Are DVDSanta and Winavi the only programs that will convert .avi files to DVD format? They are the only ones I can find. The quality is ok but not the best. I was wondering if there was anything better out there.

  2. There is alot better Program, But they all do different things. Do you want an all in one program? I think DVDsanta is good for this.

I dont need an all in one program. I have Nero for burning. I just need something that will take the .avi files that I have on my computer and convert them into something like .vob files so that I can burn them with nero. I also have DVD Decryptor which I think burns. Prefferably it would only convert the avi's to DVD format, just because when programs focus on only one thing it tends to create better quality, unless its an exception where the allinone makes the better quality instead.

Basically, it doesnt matter to me if its all in one or if converting is the programs only purpose. As long as it works good. I was just wondering what else is available besides DVDSanta and Winavi so that I can compare the quality of them.

Try VSO DivXToDVD - it gives pretty good results, and it's free.
You can also give DIKO a shot.

  5. I use DVD2SVCD with CCE but it can also use other free encoders.

When using the VSO DvixtoDVD, if the movie is broken up into two or three avi files (about 700 MB a piece), do I have to do anything different in order to fit it on a one layer DVD?

Just add them all. DivxToDVD will make sure they all fit, and create each as a seperate title.

  8. DVD2SVCD configured to AVI2DVD is going to give you the best results. You can take teh images & burn with Nero I have tried WIN & a few others mentioned and I always go back to dvd2svcd. I use CCE as my encoder.

I tried using DivXtoDVD with a movie that was split into three 700Mb .avi files. I converted them all at the same time (added them all to the list then pushed convert once). However, when I went to burn the resulting file, it ended up that the converted files added up to 6000Mb. Therefore too big to burn on one DVD. Did I do something wrong? Is there a way to prevent this?
