    Is there a freeware available that is faster than FACV. I used it 3 times already and when I have the setting set to quality conversion it takes up to 3-6hrs to convert a AVI to DVD.

    You could try the old free divx2dvd, http://download.videohelp.com/download/vsoDivxToDVD_setup_0.52.99.exe
