    hello every one,
i have created a few DVDs however the problem is that whenever i play the DVD on my standard TV, the sides get cutt off. i wouldn't mind having the top and bottom sections of the screen be black, however i dont know how to. my question is...

Is there a setting, whether on the TV or on the DVD which will allow me to play the movie on my standard TV without getting the sides cut off?

    thanks and happy posting!

  2. Which programs are you using? Sounds to me that the dvds are 16.9 . That could be a reason that the sides are cut off. Check the settings on your dvd player. Try putting your video settings at 4.3 . Good luck.

Using your remote you need to find a setup screen and change the video settings. Every player is a little different.

Assuming you have a NTSC or PAL std TV, you normally will have these options in the DVD player menus for playing a widescreen DVD.
    4:3 Letterbox
This shows the full width image with black bars top and bottom for 16x9 material.

    4:3 Pan and Scan
This shows 16x9 material full vertical and crops the sides. The pan function steers the image in the H direction for the best framing of the action. The steering signal is on the DVD and was chosen by the director of the DVD during authoring.
