  1. Hi,

I have extract mp2 audio file from my karaoke VCD. I want to created two mp2 with voice/without voice to put on DVD. Is their a software to edit individual audio channel for mp2? I know cooledit can do it but it doesn't support mp2 and TMPGEnc DVD Author have the biligual options but in term of feature DVD-lab pro is awsome. Don't want to convert mp2 to wav and convert back after finished editing because quality of the mp2 is not that great to begin with. Am I stuck converting back and fort?

Yes. In principle, you can never do anything to a compressed format without (explicitly or implicitly) decompressing it as an intermediate step. Exceptions to this rule (AFAIK) are mp3gain (for normalizing mp3 without decompressing) and the m2v transcoders (such as DVDShrink).
It's like trying to edit a Word document without opening the ZIP archive you got it in.

  3. So what software would you recommend for me to convert mp2 to wav and then wav to mp2 or wav to ac3 without losing too much quality? Thanks for the respond.

I think Goldwave has no prob loading a mp2 and saving as wav.
Back to mp2, I use toolame, generally considered the best mp2 encoder around.
    For AC3, I use ffmpeg / ffmpeggui

  5. whatever86,

You can also use Adobe Audition to maipulate your audio files. It offers great flexibility and features. If you want a little simpler s/w then you can use Nero Wave Editor also.
