hey thanks a bunch.. the file im using is in mpg format.. but once i make changes in virtualdub, i must save in avi format, correct?

I dont think Virtualdub encodes to mpg you may have to framserve or save as AVI then encode.

Frameserve it, don't encode to avi then to mpeg. Each step is a quality loss. Guide here.

thanks guys.. ill check out that link because i never frameserved before..one final question.. the audio that is on the music video is really bad.. i want to replace it with my own audio. Should i use virtualdub for this as well? I'm playing around with it now.. i added the wav file but it's way out of sync.. how can i add extra frames at the beginning to get the vid back in sync?

You can change the timing of the audio under audio>interleaving>audio skew.

hey zippy.. thanks!.. now i see this chops off the audio.& i lose about the first 2 or 3 beats from the song.. (but the sync is good). Now is there any way i can add frames to the beginning of the video instead of losing the first couple of beats?

Well, you could edit and save out a portion of the video as a seperate avi. Mark the in and out points then save selection, be sure to have audio and video set to direct stream copy. Open the saved portion then "append avi" to add the original. That would add to the beginning of the clip.Originally Posted by xxxjojoxxx"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa
