  1. What do most of you use? Freeware, or otherwise. I wanna put together all the pics I took of the parties and gatherings I had during 2004 and make a DVD to play on a projector at a friends bar during a new year party next week. I wanna be able to add music, and maybe some funky effects...I'm willing to pay, but the whole try and buy is also a good way...anyone??

Slideshow Movie Maker, its a great piece of freeware. I went to a bunch of classic car shows over this last summer and took hundreds of pictures. I then used SSMM to create slideshows from each show with music, transitions (there are alot of them to choose from) and even Ken Burns effects, which is panning and zooming over a picture. Plus you can add text titles to each show. Its really a great piece of software. I can send you a "demo vid" if you want too.

  4. Though DVD slideshow GUI is still in beta, you can make your own cool transitions, add avi's(divx), music... and all the traditional stuff... and author a ready to burn dvd iso with chapterpoints for each new slide, or export to mpg/mp2/ac3... if you want to use DVDauthorGUI or GUI for DVDauthor to add a bunch of slideshows to the same dvd with menus.

The next feature I'm working on is a zoom, pan and rotate tool(the so called Ken Burns effect).
