I'm upgraging to a Pioneer 108 and a friend who has a P111 with 1 gig CPU wants my Pioneer 106D .... can someone please confirm whether or not the 106 will function in his machine under W2000pro. If yes, please advise the minimum amount RAM he needs.

yeh it will work fine,as for ram,id say best of to use about 256meg-512meg of ram at least.
and also format the drive in NTFS not FAT32.LifeStudies 1.01 - The Angle Of The Dangle Is Indirectly Proportionate To The Heat Of The Beat,Provided The Mass Of The Ass Is Constant. -
Aside from my massive HD, I've got just about the same system specs, and my Pioneer 106 puts out sweetly.
