I dragged these files off my dvd.

    VIDEO_TS
    VIDEO_TS
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VTS_01_0
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_1
    VTS_01_2
    VTS_01_3

I am able to view the VTS_01_1 / 2 / 3 files with various programs but not all.

    What are those files ?

Are they DVD formatt ??? Are they avi, mpeg 1,2 what are they ?

Now that I have those files on my hard drive I want to edit them, but I have no idea what program to use to edit those files.

I DON"T want to convert if its not necessary ( there MUST be some kind of software to edit those files directlly ? ).

Is there ANY editting software that will alllow me to import those files and work with them ????

If not then how does everyone go about editing DVD video ???

Please do NOT tell me I need dozens of programs to acomplish ONE obstical !

Yes, I can give you a straight answer. The members of this forum are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, but if you don't make any effort to learn, they will not hold your hand and step you through every single process. Remember, these people give their time freely to help others. If you fail to take the time to learn anything for yourself and monopolize their time, they have less of it to give to people who aren't too lazy to make an effort to help themselves.

That's as straight an answer as I can give you.

If that is in fact the case it's probably because the audio is in AC3 format which MF doesn't support.

Then might I suggest you suck up real good to him, because he's probably the only one who will help you from here on out with that attitude!

You have no idea the wealth of knowledge here you just pissed off because you were too lazy to take their well intended instruction.

I would certainly take your attitude if I were paying for the support, but when someone gives you something this valuable for free, you really should just shut up and listen.

    Your loss....

Sure, get Ulead DVD Workshop 2, that will import the audio but will cost you. Most of the other suggestions by the other posters in this thread and your other thread, most of whom are more knowledgeable that me would be the preferred way since it's cheaper or free. If you don't even know what AC3 is it's time to start reading.

  18. What kind of "editing" are you trying to do? If it's just IN/OUT cuts, demux the dvd into elementary streams using DVD Decrypter or Smartripper, etc and then try MPEG2Schnitt.

  19. I was really hoping this thread would get out of hand and be locked. I have never posted in an On-Topic thread that got locked before...just the OLD off topic ones.

Some things aren't worth the effort. Although I was willing to accept my first "yellow trophy" over this. This was also a double post. If you got into the other one, it got locked. Good mods around here. You need to be quick.

It's my Wedding VIdeo I'm trying to redit. The " VIDEO " was shot almost 20 years ago. The video quality is still VERY decent.

The video is spread on 2 two hour unedited video tapes. It is NTSC video .......... I recently had the two video tapes recorded onto DVD with a DVD recorder providing me with 2 disks of unedited film.

I recently aquired a DVD burner, I grabbed one of the disks and dragged the files onto my computer. Now I have this video on my computer with all these files. I have tried several programs and none are able to see the files ?

I want to open a program that sees the files and allows me to edit them. ANY encoding what so ever is unacetable since I can not allow any further degration of this video.

I want to edit the video to possibly 2 or less hours. I need to be able to cut /edit sections and trasformations etc. and be able to keep the audio track..............

    Any ideas are appreciated.
