Looks like a corrupted codec to me.
    If in doubt, Google it.

The file itself could be corrupted.

  5. I agree, probably a bad file or codec. Have you tried encoding some other video with that codec?

An acronym for "compression/deccompression", a codec is an algorithm or specialized computer program that encodes or reduces the number of bytes consumed by large files and programs. Files encoded with a specific codec require the same codec for decoding. Some codecs you may encounter in computer video production are Divx, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, Xivd, DV type 1 and type 2 for video and MP3 for audio.
You might try looking in the tools section on the left. I haven't had any trouble with codecs so I can't help you there

The pictures above are stills from the stock footage that comes with pinnacle studio 9. that particular footage plays like that (with odd pixels) even before i try to burn a disc.

My own Camcorder footage plays fine BUT, when i try to burn a disc i get the odd coloured pixels on the disc.

Even trying to create a slide show of still pictures (jpegs) i get the pixels on the burned disc

  9. you could run the file through gspot... that will tell you what codec you need to decode the video, and then simply download and reinstall that codec. Hopefully that will fix your problem.

well after encoding the file does your video look like that?

Also...let me guess....you are trying to use a pinnacle product for what they say it will do....big mistake

Take your video, output it to MPEG-2 from Studio 9 and then play the video and see if it looks pixelated. If it does, then the error is in your encoding and not in your burning. If it plays fine after encoding, go ahead and make your DVD but output it to your HD rather than burn it straight away. Playing the DVD from your HD, if it's not pixelated there then you are probably looking at a media issue...quit buying cheap media. If it is pixelated playing the DVD from your HD then Studio 9 is having some trouble creating the DVD and is causing some problems.

A few other things. I have had videos become pixelated if I have too many apps running, try opening taskmanager and closing all unneeded processes....like anti-virus, firewall, etc.

You could also get that type of pixelation if your HD is overly fragmented or if you are reading and writing to the same IDE channel (depending on size and speed of encoding).

I would just check the video at each step I listed above and narrow your problem area, and incase you try...if you try to contact Pinnacle for Tech Support or questions...you'd be better off to ask your dog. Their solution is and has always been, uninstall, regdelete, reinstall. Their BBs are pretty useless as well.
