  1. Ok... third post about this, getting tired of wasting cds ... gonna stop now until someone gives me some good info...

I have lord of the rings svcd ... now when I try and burn either cd 1 or 3.. ( not 2 since Im not done it yet ) ... it wont work, in Nero it gives a invalid writestate, with more errors following. In fireburner it just sits there at synchronizing cache, and in cdrwin it stalls at leading out. So all of them dont work, then I go and try cd #4 on fireburner and it works the first time, and works perfect. My guess is the sizes are too big for the cds I have.. which are 700 mb/80 min cds. Though it does not make much sense why it wouldnt burn considering the movie is 45 min long for a 80 min cd. Yet the file size is 830 mb.... I know that when you turn it to a svcd type cd the file size goes down because of the information in the file.. but just my guess... If anyone else has had this problem or knows a way to bypass it , I would really like it if you posted, Thanks ahead of time ;)

  2. Hi Wolf,
I had a similar problem (tho not with the lotr svcd)
My burner had an outdated firmware (Sony CRX100E rev10.m)

This limited my burning capabilites to 78:16 secs (or something close)
I flashed the firmware to 1.0n and it all works fine

I wasted loads of cds before I tried this avenue

    Hope The Helps

  3. I wasted 2 ACER 80min CDRs on the 1st LOTR file using CDRWIN and then I gave it up.

  4. Extract the files from the bins using winimage. Then use the mpeg2 file inside the svcd to make a NEW svcd using Nero. Should work this way.

  6. Check this site out:

    http://www.ping.be/satcp/firmwares01.htm

This has firmware upgrades for Sony CRX100e and the HP 8100i

There are a few more as well, so have a look anyways

    Hope that helps

  7. so the writer stops the burning so i must upgrade it or what?

  8. yes, if like mine it has a limit it needs to be patched

    "HP 8100i/8110i firmware 1.0n

This firmware fixes the 78:16 minutes limitation so you can record up to 80 minutes on 80 minutes media. This is not an official firmware but a hacked version of the Sony CRX100E firmware 1.0n! It is reported to work correctly by many users. Use at your own risk, this may void warranty!"

    Taken from http://www.ping.be/satcp/firmwares01.htm

As you can see you can only burn 78 mins, where as the images are 79...

  13. I just had to make this observation: Why the hell are so many of you wasting discs and money by trying to burn onto CD-R's instead of using CD-RW's? I mean duh....get a clue people....test out your burn on a Rewritable CD first.

  16. I am having the same problem. Wasted about 12 cds. Let's see, I paid 5 American cents apiece. 12 X 5 American cents = 70 American cents. Don't think I'm going to miss the truck payment this month.

  17. what kinda burner you have?

  18. I really don't know. I looked in system devices and it is "LG CD-RW CED-8080B". I tried everthing on this site and nothing works. It looks like a valid SVCD in explorer but doesn't play on my PC DVD or on my stand alone.

  19. LOL is that new math? 12 x 5 =70? Something we americans should know?

  20. There is a DVD-SVCD rip of LOTR floating around the alt.binaries.vcd newsgroup that is absolutely stunning. Much better than the centrophy VCD that was around a month ago. I am not a proponant of this stuff but when it came to LOTR I bent my own rules a bit.

The bin cue files burned fine for me using nero. This was after running the files through SmartPar. It is possibly one of the best DVD-SVCD rips I have ever seen. It's DVD quality. Really high end. Like I said, much better than the centrophy version.

  22. I am using Imation 8x4x32 and burnt it on Black Melody CDR with no problems at all, using and watching it already and I agree that the Quality Roxxx!!

I am running WinXP with Nero 5564 installed and I used the original cue/bin files to burn.

  23. to NEXT,

I may be a complete tard  but, how are you using SmartPAR to "compress"(?) the .BIN (?) file so that you can fit it on a 700MB (80Min) CDR/VCD? I'm interested to know as I'm having difficulty transfering these files to a movable medium
    Quote Quote
  24. SmartPar doesn't shrink the bin file it cleans up any crc errors that can happen with uploads\downloads from newsgroups. The largest bin file of the 4 bins that make up the lotr svcd is about 825,000KB which burned fine on an 80 minute CDR using Nero.

  25. This probably sounds really dumb but how/what do you use to go to alt.binaries.vcd?

alright then.. I have a hint..... maybe if u try playing the whole movie on ur computer u may realize that there must be an error in it, and that is why when it tries loading up, it fails, just like a bad scratch on a cd. Try a mpg. or .avi fixer, or a repair program. (Check the tools section on this page) If this doesn't work try buring it a VCD or hell, even an XSVCD or XVCD because I had that problem too, but Lord of the Rings was a VCd rather than SVCD. So I turned off the compliance on Nero and it worked fine.9Oh yeh, i also repaired it) So give it a try
What the Fuc is the internet?
