I'm continually impressed by Will's ability to accurately express his feelings in such a tactful manner. Every post is a Hallmark card waiting to happen.

    I voted Yes.

Sorry for the D & M, but I'm hepped up on panadeine forte ATM and my emotions are swinging more frequently than Capmaster when he gets dolly back from BJ_M ....

Call me a geek with no life (wide open here, lads), but I consider a lot of people here as "virtual" friends, and I feel that there is a real community spirit going on. Especially with the addition of skpye, where it's been possible to chat with those who you're so used to reading posts and PMs from. You can get a real sense of who everyone is, even though they're still "hiding behind the keyboard/microphone" so to speak. I don't know whether it used to happen before my time here, but I sense that we have progressed a lot deeper into each others' lives, tot he point where there is genuine concern for our fellow OTPW and their family members.

Maybe it indicates an absence of this cameraderie in "real" life, I don't know. Either that or it's an escape from reality....

    <rant over>
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Well said Jimm

I think that rather than friendships in OT being a substitute for real friendships, I think they are rather real friendships that reflect the way technology can put people in touch even across the world, allowing us to create friendships at a great distance.

After all, just 10 years ago the internet was just beginning to become popular. Before that, the only options would have been long-distance telephone and snail-mail. THe web gives us the ability to "hang out" together every day, share life experiences, and even talk real-time. Same as if we were kicking back at the corner pub 8)
Edit: Gonna watch I, Robot for the first time in about 5 minutes. Catch you all tomorrow

Now that just sucks for me because My work system is the only one I'd use for skype and I can't install it here.

I saw 'I, Robot' last night, too. but that's because I had bought it. I saw it in the theater. really good.

Yes, I want you to come looking for me. I never really worried about foul play before, but since my mediocre performance in Tgpo's movie, Doramius has been looking at me like I meant to upstage him. He wants me out of the way, and I think he'll stop at nothing to make this happen.
    Hello.

Yes, the plot thickens. I received this in an anonymous email today:

That letter wasn't from me, but I don't think a regular ammo stock would save you from me either. I'm a gun happy American. And I got BIG GUNS.

In the words of Dolph Lundgren, "Point and shoot. Aim not required."

This is my wife with a gun. Quote from 'I, Robot', "Dude, she just shot at you with her eyes closed." "You shot at me with your eyes closed? Aim & Fire."

Or another quote from one of his movies where he's showing Tia Carrere how to use a 12-gauge ..."Point this where things are"

Overcompensating would be getting a polished mahogany stock with cushioning while loading with spread-shot.

Mine is pine with no cushioning, and I don't use that multi-ball cartridge crap unless I go hunting.

You're getting old Dr. DOS! It used to be at least once an hour. Don't worry. Doctors say it's normal for men your age to slow down like that...
