  1. I recently got the Pioneer A03 DVD-R/RW and have been trying to figure the highest capture bitrate possible for a 123min video. I am capturing directly to mpeg2 using ATI All In Wonder Radeon, 720x480 NTSC 5.53 MB/sec VBR , 44.100 KHz 16 bit Stereo audio, 0 Motion Estimation Quality and 1 for Horizontal and Verticle Motion Estimation Search Ranges. The captured .mp2 file is 3.72 Gig. Well, after I de-multiplex, convert audio to wave, convert audio to 48000 Hz 320kbs, author with SpruceUP, my DVD comes in well under 4.3 Gig. Is there a bitrate calculator out there that can help. I've searched and searched, found bitrate calculators, but none that really help me. If anyone has any info please pass it on, it would be greatly appreciated.

if I calculate the average bitrate should be about 4700 kbit/s using the vcdhelp bitrate calculater and it is kinda correct...but you are using vbr and you then never now how exactly big the output will be.

    or else calculate yourself
    ( dvdrsize - (audio*videolength) ) / videolength = video bitrate.

I have an AIW and a Dazzle 1 - I recently ordered the Dazzle II. I have not been able to get the AIW to capture or even play TV. Basically I'm hoping the MPEG-2 output of Dazzle 2 will be suitable for high quality SVCD creation, so I'm curious to know if you've tried it and what were the results?
