Video cards

My pent 933 pc just died. Would I be able to use the Diamond Viper 770 video card in the AGP slot of ASUS mobo P4P800S? Or do I have to use a DDR video card? I'm gonna build another pc to replace that one since I have a spare PENT 4 2.2 ghz chip and the ASUS mobo. I would appreciate any comments. Thanks in advance!

Is the 770 even AGP? Or was that still PCI? I had one years ago but I forget ....

It's a AGP video card. Thanks for the replies! Now I don't have to purchase a new video card!

I know my motherboard has warnings in the manual and on the board itself saying never to use a 3.3 V AGP card for risk of damaging the motherboard. I would look into that first as your card is pretty old.

yeah some of the newer boards want at least 4x agp or higher...vid cards are cheap these days, even at $60 you could get a card thats alot better than that one.

I tried an AGP Voodoo 3 in my newer Abit NFS 7 or whatever the board is, and the thing wouldn't fit. I can't remember exactly why, and yes it was definiteyl an AGP V3, but the thing wouldn't fit. I seem to recall it being a touch long

I'll probably end up buying a VISIONTEK 9200SE video card from COMPUSA. I'll have them price match Circuit City. Circuit City has it for $39.99 after rebates.

Nice! Thanks for the mention. I currently have a GF3, and it's not very good. I think the 9200SE, while a "low-end" card, should smoke it handily, and I've been looking to get something newer, to allow me to get some time in with HL2. Have you looked at any other sweet deals lately at best buy, compusa, etc?
