I Purchased one at CompUSA for I think Less than 40.00 U.S. and it works fine for me.(INTEK21.model #TK9908) includes Fire Wire Cable and Ulead Video Editing and Capture Software but it is just basic-no SVCD/DVD Support. If you search hard enough though you can get that kind of thing for free or pretty darn cheap.

I've had my Maxtor 1394 PCI firewire card for only two weeks and already one of the two 1394 ports has gone bad, so I DO NOT recommend Maxtor. I've also e-mailed them twice so far about an exchange without a response.

So, the product sucks as does their customer support.

For $50, ATI has their "DV Wonder", which includes the PCI card, firewire cable (6') and editing software. A simple but working solution that I haven't had any problems with at all.

what about the new soundblaster audigy cards. its a wicked soundcard with and accompanied firewire port. and its only like 1 bill...
