I would try this guide or this guide. The softwares you need are listed in the guides.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    EDIT:
    my bad

I prefer to use "dedicated" apps for this task. Try the two guides I linked to above
    If in doubt, Google it.

  11. Actually, the name dvd2svcd is misleading- it's an all-in-one converter. Or maybe you're thinking of something else?

Tony: Yeah it's okay. You could try DIKO also. I think the majority of those with any experience will advise you that dedicated, single-purpose apps are gunna do better. But you do say in your first post that you want something easy.

Both dvd2svcd and DIKO are freeware. The only expense is for the mpeg encoder. But both also let you use either Quenc or Freenc, and, uh, isn't there another variation now? Anyway, they're all derived from the same original project. Not bad, but not as good as TMPGEnc, CCE, Mainconcept, Procoder. Still, they're free.

Pay attention to your guide when setting up one of those all-in-one apps. Good luck.

Not true ! TMPGEnc will convert almost any file format to MPEG-1/2 or even AVI if you wish. I think you are not fully understanding the process you need to go through. In order to get file a onto a DVD, you need to convert it to a DVD-compliant MPEG file (TMPGEnc/TMPGEnc Plus/TMPGEnc Xpress the encoder does this for you). Once you have this DVD-compliant MPEG, you need to author it, which turns your MPEG into IFO, BUP and VOB files (TMPGEnc DVD Author can do this for you). If you are experiencing issues opening your AVI in TMPGenc, try the TMPGenc problems page https://www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc.htm#problems . Also I have taken one of my guides down, so follow this guide TO THE LETTER, step by step, and post back here with details of the specific step that didn't go to plan, and any error messages etc.
    If in doubt, Google it.

You cannot "author" a DVD with an avi. You must convert it into a DVD compliant mpeg first, then you can author it. So you convert it to mpeg with TMPGEnc and then author and burn with TMPGEnc DVD Author.
