Ritek 1-2x discs and the DRU500AX

So, I understand you have to upgrade your DRU500A to the 2x firmware to burn at 2x on these Ritek discs, but what about the DRU500AX? I own the AX, so do I have to upgrade anything to burn at 2x on these Ritek discs?
