  1. I know have the new version of TMPEnc 2.5 and after an encode I get jerky play back.

Used DVD2AVI for a NTSC Progressive DVD and set TMPGEnc for SVCD NTSC Film. (Template) Now when I play its jerky. I know the video is Progress based on DVD2AVI and with a bitrate viewer.

Tried to play back in WMP XP. (The one player I use for DVD, DivX and MPG)

Could I have a codec proplem? I can play MPEG2 in DVDs.

  3. If the video source is already 23.976 fps film, make sure the inverse telecine box under the advance tab is not checked. I'm not sure about how Tmpgenc handles this but, I tried IVTC in VDub on a source that was close to 24 fps and it further reduced the framecount and played as you describe - choppy. When the rendering starts, Tmpgenc will show you the total framecount in the upper right part of the window. If the movie is 23.976 fps, divide the total framecount by 23.976 and this will tell you how many seconds the video output will be. Make sure this is the known duration of the source.

  4. Looks like it was WMP XP and not the encode.

Burned on a CD-RW and played back fine on my standalone

Looks like I will need a copy of PowerDVD or WinDVD and shoot WMP in the head!
