OK, boys and girls --- check this out:

    http://www.clonedvd.net/

Haven't downloaded the demo yet, but it doesn't look like it's from Elaborate Bytes --- wonder if there will be some sort of name challenge on this?

Anyway, I'm off to download the trial and check it out. Seems like there has been a hell of a lot of action in the DVD copying/authoring world the last couple of months!

  2. Doesn't give much information at that site however I assume this is similar to DVDX Copy but half the price.

  3. From their website FAQ's.

"Does CloneDVD support DVD-5 and DVD-9 DVD movie?
CloneDVD support DVD-5, but currently version does not support DVD-9(coming soon)."

So what are they selling if the program doesn't do DVD9? For DVD5 I just rip and burn and that's costs me zip.

  6. They touted this software as having some superduper compression scheme. Maybe that will come in the next release. Right now, there is no reason to buy this software.

    Yep

Elaborate Bytes is probably pooling their dollars in anticipation of a legal defense right now...

    Update:

This non-Elby CloneDVD is now on CNet:

Wonder when the DVD-9 to DVD-5 version will be out?
