I downloaded DVDShrink 1.03 and have been trying to use it to backup a couple DVDs. I am using the reencode feature and it gets to 2 gig and then dies. I normally start the process in the evening and when I wake up DVDShrink is no longer running and when I check my output folder I only get 2 gig of vobs. No ifo files, nothing. Can anyone help with this problem.
Thanks.

what is the spec of ya pc????.........maybe u don't have enough memory/hd space..........have u turned off all the standby/shutdown settings in windows???.backing up a full dual layer dvd to a single layer results in a very poor quality picture for the main and extra features mate so try ripping the movie only to get ya going............

Thanks for the reply. I have a P4-1.9 with 512 meg memory and all my drives are set for ultra dma 2. It just dies at 2 gig.

What level of compression did you choose?
Re-encoding with DVDShrink gives you 4 options. It would be helpful to know which option you selected. Also would be helpful to know what DVD title and how big the original files were.Only 3 things are certain in life... Death, Taxes, and SPAM. Of these, only Death seems affordable!

It would be helpful to know if you have been able to get successful rips of those DVDs with DVD-Decrypter. If you haven't tried to just do a normal rip then you shuold start there.
A successful straight rip would sorta rule out a possible bad or scratched original.
Aslo... Just curious... Why start it in the evening and not check it again until morning? DVDShrink takes only about 45min on a system as fast as yours (unless you are trying to rip from a reeeeeeal slow drive).Only 3 things are certain in life... Death, Taxes, and SPAM. Of these, only Death seems affordable!

SCDDummy,
Thanks for the replies. I am trying to rip Minority Report and The Man with the Golden Gun. I do reencode and chose custom size of 4.38. Then I always choose the compression level that fits the best on DVD+R. I have already riped and made these DVDs with DVDDecryptor and DVD2one, but I wanted to try DVDShrink because of it doing the ripping for you and saving that step.
Thanks.

What opperating system do you use. Are you on FAT, FAT32, or NTFS? Remember that none NTFS formatted drives may not support large files.

Try disabling any caching or video shadow in bios. Also maybe try different AGP aperature settings but I'm just guessing.

This is not mine but I do know mrbass does good work and this might help. Looks like he is doing an author at first glance but you get the idea. I have been out a while but will take a look at the program and maybe do a small guide if needed.
